Can foreigners drive in Jeju? What are the alternatives?

Last updated:

Yes, visitors can drive with a valid International Driving Permit or a mutually recognized foreign licence, for up to one year after entering Korea; rental-company requirements also apply. If you prefer not to drive, choose public buses, taxis or a private driver around your route and return plans.

Do I need to rent a car to enjoy Jeju?

You can explore Jeju as a passenger using public buses or a prearranged driver service. Choose around your actual stops. For a bus-based day, check the connections and return route. For a private day, agree on the route and pickup details before booking.

When is a private driver useful?

A private driver is useful when you want several planned stops, a vehicle for your group and a day travelling as passengers. Compare the whole day's arrangement, including its start, finish and inclusions, to choose the service that fits your plans.

What does Jetopia's KRW 200,000 rate cover?

It covers one Carnival or Staria for the standard 09:00 to 19:00 private-tour service, including the driver, fuel, parking, insurance and the driver's meal. The price applies to the whole vehicle. Check your selected vehicle's passenger capacity and any separately requested services.

Can I communicate with the driver in my own language?

Jetopia provides translated chat in 21 languages and AI-interpreted calls in supported languages in the Jetopia app. Share your preferred language and any requirement for direct spoken communication before travel. Keep important details such as the meeting point and time in writing.

Can I combine buses with a private-driver day?

Yes. Plan some days around public transport and reserve a private vehicle for a separate sightseeing day. Map each day's stops first, then choose the arrangement that suits that day. A transfer is the service to discuss for a single direct journey.
