Woljeong-ri and Gimnyeong are two of eastern Jeju’s best-known coastal routes. Woljeong-ri’s name means “the waterside where the moon stays,” fitting for a village loved for its clear, peaceful sea. Stylish cafés line the shore, inviting you to sit by a window and gaze out over the water. White wind turbines turning slowly beyond the coastline create a scene that gives this area its distinctive character. On days when the waves are just right, you can easily spot people surfing. At neighboring Gimnyeong Beach, black basalt, white sand, and deep blue sea come together in an even richer blend of colors. Pause for a moment and take in the gentle motion of the wind turbines in the sea breeze.
