This is Hamdeok Beach, one of the best-known beaches on Jeju’s northeastern coast. Its shallow water and fine sand give the sea the soft jade glow it is famous for. Palm trees line the lawn beside the beach, creating the feel of a tropical resort. The hill rising to the east of the beach is Seoubong. Its name comes from its resemblance to a water buffalo wading into the sea. In spring, yellow canola flowers cover its slopes, making a beautiful contrast with the sea. A short climb along the walking trail gives you a sweeping view of Hamdeok’s sea and coastline. Take your time and enjoy the sea’s delicate colors.
